El Shaddai


God, the Strong and Almighty The name El Shaddai was translated as "The Almighty" by the Jews who translated the Hebrew Bible into Greek in the third century BC. It expresses his unshakable power, to which all must obey. All the prerequisites for God to fulfill his promises are given in Himself—the Almighty. He is the origin of the world, who sustains everything, and who is dependent on nothing outside of Himself. There is nothing that could stop Him from carrying out what He has planned. In Him, we have the solution to every situation in life and for every task: Nothing is impossible for Him.

Genesis 17:1-7 

When Abram was 99 years old, the LORD appeared to him and said, "I am the Almighty God. Walk with me and do what is right in my eyes. I will keep my covenant with you and give you countless descendants." Abram fell to the ground, and God continued to speak to him, "I promise you: You will become the father of many nations. Therefore, from now on, your name will no longer be Abram, but Abraham. [...] This covenant is for all time, for you and your descendants. It is a promise that will never be broken: I am your God and the God of your descendants.
